This song is very unique because I wrote it on the bass guitar!  I started off by making a catchy reggae beat and then I picked up my bass and made the main line.  Many people do not know this, but the bass guitar is actually the third instrument I learned (after drums and saxophone).  Although many people do not associate me with this instrument, I truly enjoy playing it and view it as the root core of all musical compositions.  

After the main catchy line was created, the first verse and the chorus came very easily to me.  I knew that most reggae songs have some kind of organ or guitar element doing small hits on the offbeat, so I added that with a typical organ sound.  Once the chorus was recorded, I knew the beat needed a little more “umph” so I doubled down on the kick drum and gave it a little bit of a hip-hop feel.

After all this work was done, I left the song incomplete for nearly 3 years.  I always knew that this song needed a second verse to be complete, but I never got around to it.  Until a few weeks ago.  I was feeling ambitious and determined, and saw the title “My Angel” on one of my lists of songs to complete.  So I took a stab at it and the rest is history.

I think this song is great because it’s so simple.  It’s not about anyone.  It’s not deep.  It’s not earth shatter
